Arizona Roller Derby Decorates Christmas Tree at Phoenix Childrens Hospital
The skaters of Arizona Roller Derby generously donated their time, energy and creativeness off the track to help create and display some beautiful ornaments at the Phoenix Childrens Hospital in downtown Phoenix. The girls of all the teams, Bad News Beaters, Surly Gurlies, Brawlarinas, Bruisers, and Smash Squad, all participated not only in making ornaments (and a helmet tree topper), but then graciously spending a few hours at the hospital to decorate. We are happy that the Phoenix Children's Hospital allowed us to participate in this fun event, and it vertainly helped all of us get into the holiday spirit!

AZRD Featured in Music Video with The Swamp Coolers
The Swamp Coolers play authentic, American roots rock and instrumental surf music. Their recordings are popular on every continent and their song, "I Want To Be An Astronaut", was chosen by NASA in a recent worldwide competition. The 2011 release of their "Greatest Surf Hits" immediately climbed to the top of the surf music charts as did the title song from their recent "Modern Love" CD.
Their new hit single, "Fall For You" will be on their next album, scheduled for release in spring 2012. The music video for "Fall For You" features the exciting women of the AZ Roller Derby.

Arizona Roller Derby Rocks the Holidays with their Final Bout of 2011
Come watch Arizona Roller Derby deck the halls with hips of fury this season with our last double header of 2011. Game 1 will be The Derby Brats youth league in their first home bout of the season, the future of roller derby is ready for some action! Game 2 will be our own Surly Gurlies hosting Northern Arizona Roller Derby's Whiskey Row-llers. Will it be a stiff drink of whiskey for our pirates or will the Surlies give the Row-llers a leap off the yard arm? Come to the Castle Sports Club December 3rd at 6 PM to find out!

Charity Events with AZRD
Arizona Roller Derby held a can food drive at our November home bout We collected can food for the Desert Mission Food Bank. Thanks to all your help we were able to donate 182 pounds of food to help those in need. We had the opportunity to tour the facility and see where the donations would be going!!
In December Arizona Roller Derby will be sponsoring a Christmas tree at Phoenix Children's Hospital.
We have been busy making ornaments for a roller derby themed Christmas tree. Hand making almost all of the items to be used. Phoenix Children's Hospital has 50 Christmas trees around their campus to help make the holidays a little happier for those children who have to spend time in the Hospital. We are very honored to have the opportunity to help brighten the day of a sick child.
We will also be adopting a family for Christmas Through an organization called Save The Family. Feel free to contact us and donate some money to help make this Christmas spectacular for a family in need.
In January we are going to be collecting new and gently used towels for at risk and homeless veterans for Arizona Stand Down, an event that happens once a year in AZ. It is a three day event at Phoenix Memorial Coliseum. While its primary goal is helping homeless veterans access the resources needed, including housing, to regain their highest level of independence; its secondary goal is to bring our community and service providers together in a collaborative format that can build relationships throughout the year that positively benefit homeless veterans.
Fundraising Events
On Saturday November 12th We held a Car Wash Fundraiser and had a ton of fun meeting new fans and washing dirty cars. We were very successful and thank you all for your support.
